The outdoor living space has evolved from a simple patio with a few chairs to a fully designed extension of the home. Here are five trends we're seeing across our projects in 2025.

1. Biophilic Outdoor Rooms

Blurring the line between indoors and out, designers are creating "outdoor rooms" with defined zones — living, dining, and relaxation — surrounded by lush planting.

The key is furniture that feels refined enough for a living room but engineered for weather exposure.

2. Curved & Organic Silhouettes

Sharp angles are out. Curved dining tables, rounded lounge chairs, and organic-shaped coffee tables are dominating design palettes. These softer shapes feel more inviting and natural in garden settings.

3. Modular Flexibility

Clients want furniture that adapts. Modular sofa systems that can be reconfigured for intimate conversations or large gatherings are in high demand — especially for hospitality where event setups change frequently.

"The best outdoor spaces are the ones that feel as intentional and comfortable as any indoor room."

4. Warm, Earthy Tones

The all-white outdoor aesthetic is fading. Designers are embracing warm terracotta, olive green, sand, and charcoal. Cushion fabrics in these earthier palettes create spaces that feel grounded and sophisticated.

5. Sustainability as Standard

FSC-certified timber, recycled aluminum, and OEKO-TEX certified fabrics are no longer nice-to-haves — clients expect them.

At DHT: 100% of our teak is sustainably sourced and we use water-based finishes wherever possible. Our 2026 target is zero waste to landfill.
